Thanks from the Chairs
The first International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPACí10, held at the Kyoto International Conference Center (KICC) in Kyoto, closed on Friday May 28th. On June 18th, just three weeks later, the Proceedings of the Conference, with 1568 papers and including the transparencies of the oral presentations, were published at the JACoW website. This rapid publication was due to the hard work of the JACoW international team of editors. We are delighted with this outstanding accomplishment.
IPACí10 was a great success, reflected by the following numbers: 1244 participants, 88 industrial exhibitors, just under 100 supported students, 99 oral presentations, and approximately 1500 posters. Participation was truly global with 531 delegates from Asia, 467 from Europe and 246 from the Americas. It should also be noted that the Organizing Committee (OC) and the Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) had a truly international composition, with half of the members coming from Asia, a quarter from Europe and the other quarter from the Americas.
We wish to express our thanks to all members of the OC and SPC, the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), the staff of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the editorial team, the speakers, the session chairs and the delegates for their enthusiasm and cooperation, which made IPACí10 such a great success and firmly established the IPAC series conferences in the accelerator community calendar.
Finally, we wish every success to the next International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPAC'11 to take place in San Sabastian, Spain, in September 2011.
